Co-Founder | Instructor for the SPM Starter Workshop
Over the years, I’ve been exposed to many teachers in various contexts and also accumulated close to 300 hours of teaching experience myself. My take on excellent teaching is that being brilliant in your field is not enough to be an excellent teacher. It's the enthusiasm you put into teaching that makes the difference between an ok and a great teacher.
As your instructor I offer you up-to-date knowledge of neuroscientific methods put forth from excellent communication skills and a sound background in cutting-edge teaching methods and learning techniques. I enthusiastically enjoy teaching, so my mission as your instructor is to make your learning experience with us as effective and exciting as possible!
My fascination with human neuroscience began during my undergrad years at the University of Bremen. Gathering first experiences with fMRI and EEG during a 6-month internship in 2004 got me hooked, so I pursued a M.Sc. and a PhD in neuroscience at Universities in Bremen, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Bonn and Dresden.
The experience of repeatedly helping to establish new labs was absolutely priceless when I started running my own fMRI Lab from scratch here at Hannover Medical School in January 2009. When I started my position here, there was literally no infrastructure except for one 1.5 T Siemens Avanto running clinical routine diagnostics all day long. Today I am proud to see that we have come a long way and that we are now working with high-end equipment on research topics that I am absolutely passionate about.
